Please read these terms before using OutageWatch. By using the app, the website, or the API, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use them.
What OutageWatch is
OutageWatch is a free, informational service that shows power-outage status and sends alerts based on PG&E's publicly available outage data for its Northern and Central California service territory.
Not affiliated with PG&E
OutageWatch is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by PG&E. "PG&E" and "Pacific Gas and Electric" are trademarks of their owner and are used here only to describe the source of the data.
No warranty; the data can be wrong or delayed
The service and all information in it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. Outage locations, causes, and estimated restoration times come from PG&E's feed, which can be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or unavailable. We do not guarantee that:
- outage information is correct or current;
- a notification will be sent, delivered, or delivered on time; or
- the service or its servers will be available without interruption.
Web service
The website and its API are provided as is, on the same terms and with the same safety disclaimer as the app. OutageWatch is not affiliated with PG&E, the outage data can lag or be incomplete, and you should not rely on it for emergencies. In any emergency, call 911.
Not for emergencies
Do not rely on OutageWatch for safety-critical or emergency decisions.

Report a downed power line, a gas leak, or another PG&E emergency to PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
Never touch or approach a downed line; assume every line is live.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OutageWatch and its creator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the service or its data, or any reliance on information it provides. Your only remedy if you are dissatisfied is to stop using it.
Acceptable use
Use OutageWatch for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not misuse the service, including by attempting to scrape or overload it, reverse engineer it, circumvent rate limits, or use it to harm others.
Availability and changes
OutageWatch is provided free of charge. We may change, suspend, or discontinue it, or any part of it, at any time and without notice. We may also update these terms; we will change the "Last updated" date above, and continued use means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
